Opening Prayer
The opening prayer was read by Reverend Brian Rensford from Holroyd New Life Church.
The Mayor, Councillor Christou opened the Meeting with the following Acknowledgement of Country:
“I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of this land – the Darug People, and pay my respects to their elders past, present and emerging.”
National Anthem
At this point in the meeting the Mayor, Councillor Christou asked all of those in attendance to stand for the playing of the Australian National Anthem.
Notice of Live Streaming of Council Meeting
The Mayor, Councillor Christou advised that the Council meeting was being streamed live on Council's website and members of the public must ensure their speech to the Council is respectful and use appropriate language.

That:
1. Councillors Zaiter and Zreika be granted Leave of Absence for this Council Meeting.
2. An apology be tendered on behalf of Councillor Sarkis as Leave of Absence for this Council Meeting was granted at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 18 September 2019.

That in accordance with Clause 8.2 of the Code of Meeting Practice, Council suspend standing orders to allow Items C10/19-222 and C10/19-235 to be brought forward for consideration at this time of the Meeting. |
That Council: 1. Submit the following late Motion for inclusion in the business paper for Local Government NSW Annual Conference 2019 :- That LGNSW lobby the NSW State Government to amend the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007 to include economic abuse; and that within this inclusion, dowry abuse is recognised as a form of economic abuse. 2. Continue to undertake initiatives aligned to Priority 5 of the Cumberland Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan including supporting community-led education and awareness raising campaigns about economic abuse, including dowry abuse. Councillor Rahme left the Meeting at 7:29pm and returned to the Meeting at 7:34pm during the consideration of this item. |
